FANTASTIC FOOD
Fresh, natural foods will be imaginatively prepared and served throughout the week at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The historic walled garden at Penninghame is being re-established, to provide home-grown organic produce for the enjoyment of all our guests. As well as plentiful food, there is also a well-stocked café serving good quality snacks throughout the day. Our standard menu is vegan macrobiotic. For those with wider tastes, there are optional dishes, available at extra cost, to include fish on most days. Here’s a typical day’s menu:
Breakfast buffet
Light summer miso and wakame soup. Wholegrain porridge, toasted sunflower seeds. Cereals with soya milk. A selection of organic sourdough and yeasted breads, choice of spreads, sugar free jams, grain coffee and bancha tea.
Lunch
Pasta with zucchini sauce
Chickpea paté
Carrot salad with sesame seeds
Blanched seasonal greens with tahini sauce
Dinner
Spring vegetable soup
Basmati rice
Baked oriental tofu
Sauteed string beans and carrots with ginger sauce
Cucumber-wakame salad with radishes
Optional dish
Oven roasted salmon with lemon and black pepper
